Ingredients

  • 3 cups water (I prefer to use filtered, or spring water)
  • juice of 8 lemons
  • 2 teaspoons ground cloves
  • 4 1/2 cups sugar (or any sugar alternative)
  • sparkling water and ice

Instructions

First combine three cups of your clean water, with your juice from 8 lemons, add your cloves, and your sugar or sugar alternative in a saucepan. On medium heat bring to a boil until all of your sugar has dissolved. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minuets. After your syrup cools place in a separate glass pitcher, then fill with sparkling water and ice and stir.

Pro tips

Feel free to add as little or as much sparkling water for your own taste preference. I like a strong flavor, so I add less. Although when I have a crowd coming, I add more and make it a nice neutral flavor. you can always squeeze another lemon or two on top if you need a little more flavor. Feel free to use honey or any other sugar alternative when making the syrup.

But make sure to stir the syrup as it boils in order not to burn the sugar.

The great thing about this recipe is that it is versatile. you can pretty much wing it.

You don’t have to use sparkling water, if you just want to use what you have on hand regular water will work just fine.
